Power of a Great Badge
Have you noticed that some car makers do not feel the need to spell out their names? Next time you’re on the road glance the back of any car. Most have their names spelled out in close proximity of the logo or somewhere on the back of the car except Honda (Ridgeline and CR-V are [...]

Mid-cycle Facelift – for better or worse
Mid-cycle facelifts are done for few reasons; it keeps the aging model from looking old. Slightly modifying easy-to-replace trim pieces or accents on an aging model gives it the appearance that something has changed. It also works to generate new parts sales. Sometimes it’s used to correct mistakes or bad design choices. Whatever the case, [...]
2012 Honda Odyssey – The official nail in the coffin for Honda design
Honda has officially lost it as far as styling is concerned. Starting with Acura models few years back, Honda has produced number of retarded designs in recent years. As if the disastrous remake of the Pilot in 2009 wasn’t disturbing enough, the 2012 Odyssey proudly debuts bearing even more WTF? styling cues.
Chicago Auto Show Impressions
Some say the money and effort a car maker spends on auto show promo materials, brochures, and etc. are a good indication of how they are doing financially at the moment. Which is very true because marketing and promotion is the last thing you want to skimp as a car maker. Having said that, Toyota, [...]
Honda CR-Z – worth the 20 year wait?
The long awaited production version of the Honda CR-Z is finally here. Many had high hopes for this so claimed ‘spiritual successor’ of the beloved original CRX. The first two generations of the original CRX (1984 – 1988) were light, nimble, frugal and yet extremely fun to drive. It quickly became the darling of the [...]
Honda reintroduces the Accord Wagon!
Honda calls it the Crosstour. Well, no matter what they call it, it’s an Accord station wagon. But it’s a really good looking station wagon. The proportions remind me of the Porsche Panamara but Honda manages to pull it off rather gracefully unlike the Porsche. Well done!
2009 Acura TSX
Not sure whether I really like the design direction of these new Honda/Acura. In a way, they’re cool but mostly it looks like it’s trying too hard. Like the Bangelized BMW, it definitely provokes strong reactions both good and bad. But whereas the BMW have aged somewhat gracefully – partly because they are… um…, BMW [...]

2008 Honda Accord
I’ve always admired Honda designs for their simple and unpretentious approach. And among them the mid 1980s line-up, in my opinion is the best example. Clean, simple, and unassuming lines still look handsome today. The 80s Hondas also had an effective ‘family resemblance’ among them that worked so well. A much revered feature which was [...]
